SOUTHAMPTON — The Southampton Lions Club will be presenting a plaque in honor of the late Don Puza to his family at its Monday meeting.

“Don was a very generous donor to the Lions Club,” said Bill Erickson, secretary of the club. “It’s an appreciation for … his generosity.”

The meeting will take place at the Summit View restaurant in Holyoke starting at 6 p.m. for a cocktail hour and will also feature a meal.

Puza was the longtime owner of Puza’s Pure Food Market. He died after a short battle with cancer earlier this year, after which he was praised by many for his generosity.

“We got an awful lot of donations from him,” said George Symborski, vice president of the Southampton Lions Club.

Vicky Puza-Allen, one of Puza’s daughter, said that the market is still trying to help out the Lion’s Club.

“We would help them out anytime, any day of the week,” she said.

She also said she and two of Puza’s other children will be at the event, and that the family has also set up a scholarship fund in his name.

Additionally, Puza-Allen said that the business her father ran is in shape to continue for years to come.

“This is truly a family business,” she said. “And it will continue to be so.”
