Two goals from Kaden Houle sent the Belchertown boys soccer team to an important Smith League victory Friday afternoon.
The host Orioles scored all three of their goals after intermission en route to a 3-0 win over West Springfield.
Dominic Mancuso had the third Belchertown goal, with assists credited to Jack Holt and Shay O’Neill (two).
Jacob Chaisson stopped all four shots he faced for the clean sheet.
Amherst 3, Minnechaug 1 — The visiting Hurricanes scored all their goals in the second half en route to a 3-1 Smith League win on Friday in Wilbraham.
Carlson Rose, Danny Clemons and Aengus Cox all scored for Amherst, which turned a 0-0 halftime score into a two-goal victory. Rose and Arthur Vickery notched assists and goalie Yahsiel Devi Dalomba made four saves.
Easthampton 5, Lenox 1 — Two goals each from Carter Hebert and Carter Daughrill sent the Eagles to a convincing win at Nonotuck Park on Friday.
Mateo Navarro also found the back of the net for Easthampton and dished out an assist. The hosts picked up helpers from Gabe Rapoza, Ethan Marowitz and Gabe Zellen.
Frontier 8, Mount Everett 0 — A six-goal second half propelled the Redhawks to a convincing Moriarty League win Friday afternoon.
Leading 2-0 at halftime thanks to goals from Cairn Bright and Ngawang Deter, Frontier erupted for a six-pack in the second half. Tyler Dubreuil, Dylan Martin (two), Aidan Valderrama, Fernando Saravia and Dante Ruggiano all found the back of the net. Brady Burch finished with two assists to aid the offensive attack.
Martin and Nico Llorantos each made a save to combine for the shutout, as Frontier held a 26-3 edge in shots.
Sabis 2, Granby 0 — Daniel Gauvin made nine saves for Granby, but host Sabis earned a 2-0 victory in a Schmid League game Friday in Springfield.
Tyshawn Craig and Eric Kibarra scored for the Bulldogs. The Rams fell to 9-2-1, 8-2-1 in the league.
PVCICS 3, Duggan 1 — Teddy Scott and Abram Speek tallied for the Dragons, which also benefited from an own goal for the 3-1 victory Friday in Springfield.
Gavin Gilburg picked up an assist on Scott’s goal. Speek made two saves and Seb English recorded three saves in a combined effort between the pipes.
South Hadley 3, Agawam 2 — Lauren Marjanski’s second-half tally broke a 2-2 tie and sent the Tigers to a 3-2 victory on Friday.
The goal capped off a hat trick for Marjanski, with assists coming from Maddy McArdle, Cianna Gurek and Elyse Manzi. The teams were tied 2-2 at halftime.
Drew Alley made 14 saves to aid the cause in goal for South Hadley.
Smith Academy 5, Pathfinder 0 — Maddie Fagan registered two more goals as the Falcons picked up their second shutout in as many days Friday.
Fagan also assisted on two goals in the win. Story Goldman, Anna Scagel and Emma Moynihan rounded out the Smith Academy goal scorers, with Meghan Bell and Avonna Wickles also assisting on goals.
Smith goalie Maddie Bell made five saves to pitch the shutout.
Northampton 4, Mahar 1 – Anna Cuthbert-Laidlaw scored twice, as the Blue Devils erased a 1-0 deficit en route to a 4-1 Valley League victory Friday in Orange.
Zoe Ames and Pearl Davis had the other Northampton goals.
Amherst 4, Palmer 0 — Goals from Caitlin MacDougall, Maria Konieczny and Jenna Schilling helped the Hurricanes score a 4-0 win Friday in Palmer.
Holyoke 2, Athol 0 — Goals from Siobhan Armstrong and Molly O’Donnell lifted the Purple Knights to a 2-0 County League win.
Samantha Brennan assisted on both goals for Holyoke.
Westfield 2, Smith Academy 0 — Meghan Bowen and Norah Bargatti scored in the opening quarter for the game’s only tallies as the Bombers topped the Falcons Friday in Hatfield.
Smith Academy goalie Hadley Szynal had seven saves in the loss, while defender Elena Baranoski turned in a solid defensive effort.
Belchertown 2, Hampshire 0 — Abigail Olden scored both goals in the opening quarter as the Orioles picked up a County League win over Hampshire on the road Friday night.
Olivia Labrie stopped five shots for Hampshire in net, while Belchertown didn’t allow a shot on its own goal.
Agawam 2, Frontier 1 — Emily DeMaio’s third-quarter tally gave the Redhawks the lead, but visiting Agawam scored twice in the final period to pull out a 2-1 Suburban League victory Friday in South Deerfield.
Emma Clancy assisted on DeMaio’s goal, which gave Frontier a 1-0 advantage. Gabby Shayda and Kenzie Roy scored for the Brownies in the fourth.
Frontier goalie Ella Flanders made 10 saves.
Frontier 3, Amherst 0 — In a battle of Eastern League heavyweights, Jillian Apanell’s 10 kills propelled the Redhawks to a 25-20, 25-14, 25-15 sweep Friday night in Amherst.
Lilah Evans came through with eight kills for Frontier (10-3), and Eve Dougan chipped in five kills.
Sydney Scanlon recorded 20 assists across three sets, and the defense was led by Apanell’s 10 digs. Evans and Apanell each had two aces, while Dougan amassed three blocks.
Amherst was led by Delaney MacPhetres’ seven kills and Liza Beigel’s 19 digs. Annabel Ogden finished with 15 assists for the ’Canes.
Smith Vocational 3, Granby 0 — Sarah Paradee and Jaycee Beaulieu each put down five kills to lift the Vikings to a 25-19, 25-21, 25-16 sweep.
Beaulieu notched seven aces, while Jordan Dunham had eight aces to power a dominant Smith Vocational service attack. Yanibel Agosto added eight aces of her own while Arianna Santiago notched seven aces.
Holyoke 3, Sci-Tech 0 — Karyna Gaston Feliciano dished out 15 assists to help the Knights earn a 25-11, 25-18, 25-21 sweep.
Alysha Izquierdo and Erin Gauthier combined for 25 digs, while Izquierdo maced the offense with nine kills.
Belchertown 23½, Chicopee ½
Belchertown 20, Monson 4 — The Orioles breezed to a tri-match sweep at Cold Spring Country Club behind Riley Breen, who shared match medalist honors with Monson’s Mason Dumas thanks to a round of 2-over-par 38.
The balanced Belchertown lineup received strong performances from Henry Poissant (41), Tyler McDonald (41), Brady Perkins (42), Ben Anderson (43) and Ryan O’Neil (44).
Amherst 17, Hampshire 7 — Another medalist performance from Piet Hartman helped the Hurricanes get past the Raiders Friday at Amherst Golf Club.
Hartman carded a round of 38 in the No. 1 spot for Amherst, winning 3½ points. Ben Oates (42), Chase Lashway (43), Nate Hawkins (45) and Ben Scott (48) all won their matches for the ’Canes.
Hampshire’s Levi Zielinski had his team’s low round (42), followed by Brayden Fennessey (46).
Franklin Tech 18½, Easthampton 5½ — Tanner Kmetz shot an Easthampton-low round of 47, winning two points in his match at No. 3 on Friday at Holyoke Country Club.
Mikey Thompson (50), Connor Perrault (52), Drew Thompson (53) and Dylan Marsh (55) rounded out the Easthampton lineup.
Hopkins 12, Turners Falls 12 — Visiting Hopkins won the tiebreaker by seven strokes to score the victory at Thomas Memorial Golf & Country Club on Friday.
Hopkins’ Connor Asselin led the way with a round of 40, while Christian Ciolkos shot 45 and won 3½ points. Taylor Berry and Tyler St. Hilaire combined for six points toward the Golden Hawks’ total.
Northampton 17½, Chicopee Comp 6½ — Jack Mattison-Gulotta and Ben O’Connor swept all eight of their possible points in the Nos. 5 and 6 matches to help the Blue Devils pick up the win Friday in Chicopee.
Evan Yurko won 3½ out of four points for Northampton at No. 3.
Westfield 14½, South Hadley 9½ — John Viola swept all four points in his match at No. 5 for the Tigers in a loss to the Bombers on Friday.
Austin Deren snagged two points at No. 4 for South Hadley, as did Sean Whalen in the No. 6 spot.
