HOLYOKE — School officials and city police are on high alert after a school shooting threat was written in a bathroom at Holyoke High School’s North Campus on Beech Street.

In a message to the school community, district officials said Tuesday evening that graffiti reading “school shooting 10/14/21” was discovered in a North Campus restroom. District and high school leadership called the police about the matter, the message said.

“Out of an abundance of caution and for the reassurance of students, staff and families, we will have additional police presence at Holyoke High School North Campus tomorrow (Wednesday) and Thursday,” the message said. Police “will investigate the situation immediately Wednesday morning and will work with school administration to take any necessary steps to keep our students and staff safe.”

Dan Desrochers, the school district’s spokesman, referred questions to the Police Department. A spokesperson for the department did not immediately respond to a request for comment Wednesday.
