■Two hundred fifty parents, friends and children were at the John F. Kennedy Junior High School cafetorium for the Pee Wee League football banquet last night. Joe Fennessey, WHMP sports director, acted as master of ceremonies, and Frank Tudryn, Northampton High School football coach, was the key speaker.

■Yesterday’s storm which included snow, sleet, freezing rain, rain, slush and finally fog, caused hazardous driving conditions, although only two minor accidents were reported to local police. Highway crews worked all day yesterday and through the night trying to keep streets passable.

■An illuminated rendering of Santa and his reindeer is one of nine new holiday lighting displays at Look Memorial Park in Northampton. The displays are located throughout the park and will be lit again tonight, and remain in place through Dec. 26.

■City Building Commissioner Anthony Patillo has sent letters to several tenants of the Arts & Industry building in Florence, reminding them that commercial property cannot be used as a residence. Landlord Jaime Christensen said he believes about five tenants of the former Pro Brush factory are living there illegally.

■Stephen Puffer, an icon of North Amherst who served for decades as a Town Meeting member, constructed apartments and roads as a contractor and developer and whose family built the dam at Puffer’s Pond in the 19th century, died Monday morning. He was 97.

■Elizabeth Warren held a campaign fundraiser Monday at the Hotel Northampton. Many of the Valley’s most notable politicians were in attendance: U.S Rep. John Olver of Amherst; David Narkewicz, the mayor-elect of Northampton; Northwestern District Attorney David Sullivan; state Rep. Ellen Story of Amherst; and former Northampton Mayor Clare Higgins, among others.
