South Hadley senior Jonas Clarke’s speed is truly in a different class.

He raced the 60-meter dash at the Boston University Valentine Invitational on Saturday and out paced a field of college runners, crossing the line in 6.78 seconds. That was .05 seconds clear of BU’s Dakota Jackson. There were runners from Northeastern, Columbia, Dartmouth and Boston College in the heat.

Clarke is committed to run at Harvard next year. He set the state record in the 60 last weekend.

Nordic Skiing

Berskhire League Nordic Ski Relay – Amherst’s top team of Zoey Candito, Ryan Yanko, Anna Burns and Sam Woodruff broke into the top 10, finishing ninth in 41:23.

The Hurricanes’ No. 2 squad of Eliza Zimmermann, Max Rogowski, Sophia Pope and Ben Feeney took 20th (46:38).

Mohawk Trail’s top team, which includes Hampshire Regional skiers, was 12th anchored by Curtis Casey (42:12).

Boys basketball

Smith Academy 69, Franklin Tech 29 — Griffin Smiarowski scored 20 points and grabbed nine rebounds in a home win Sunday. Ryan Belina added 12 points. Aiden Pederson contributed 10 points and 10 rebounds in a double-double

Caden Guimond and Riley Intrator distributed seven assists each.

Mount Greylock 62, Smith Academy 56 — Wyatt Jeffress score 16 points, but the Falcons couldn’t come all the way back Saturday.

Griffin Smiarowski added 14 points. The Mounties led 51-40 after three quarters, and Smith Academy narrowed the gap.

Ryan Belina had nine points for Smith Academy.

Granby 74, Palmer 64 — Nate Breault led three rams in double figures with 19 points, as they held off a late Panthers charge Saturday.

Brandon Wishart contributed 18 points, and Ryan Gaughan scored 14.

Granby led 55-30 after three quarters when Palmer dropped 24 points in the fourth.

Girls basketball

Hopkins Academy 48, Renaissance 22 — The Golden Hawks allowed just six points in the first half Saturday to win their third game in a row.

Hoosac Valley 66, Amherst Regional 56 — Recent 1,000-point scorer Delaney MacPhetres led the Hurricanes with 17 points in a home loss Saturday. Sarah Hastie scored 10, and Sophie Higham added eight for Amherst.

Chicopee Comp 48, Granby 39 — Sophia Gagnon and Gabby Wals scored 10 points each for the Rams on Saturday. Aubrey Parent chipped in nine.

Belchertown 52, Palmer 42 — Alexa LaFlamme scored 16 points and hit four 3s, as the orioles won Saturday.

Avery Klingensmith added three 3s and 15 points. Lindsay Chrabasz scored eight for Belchertown.

Ice hockey

West Springfield 7, Belchertown 3 — Ryan Fernandes had a hand in every Orioles goal Sunday with two assists and a tally of his own. Lucas Wojnas and Francis Henderson each scored once for Belchertown.

Charlie Fijal, Ryan O’Neil, Andrew Fijal and Francis Henderson contributed an assist each.

Belchertown 8, Mount Everett 1 — Andrew Fijal fired in five goals for the Orioles at the Mullins Center Practice Arena on Saturday. Brady Moreau distributed four assists.

Ryan O’Neil had two assists and his first career goal. Glen Scott and Ryan Fernandes scored once each for Belchertown, who has won four in a row.

Francis Henderson, James Delaney, Aiden Mugford, Chris Wood and Aiden Torna chipped in an assist each.

Easthampton 5, Drury 1 — Mikey Thompson notched his first career hat trick Saturday in a road win. Peter Sullivan contributed a goal and an assist. Gabe Growhowski had a goal. Ethan Marowicz added an assist.

Paige Galpin stopped 27 shots.
