AMHERST — A road that runs along Atkins Reservoir, providing access to homes in Shutesbury and Leverett, will be closed for several hours on Tuesday.
The Department of Public Works will have crews on January Hills Road assisting a crane operated by Lyndon Tree Care & Landscaping of South Hadley, in removing a large tree near the face of the reservoir’s dam.
Signs are being installed at each end of January Hills and some of the residential streets that extend from it, with a detour in effect that will take travelers via Cushman Road in Leverett and East Leverett Road in Amherst.
