Grow Food Northampton Seed Swap: March 19, 10 a.m.-1 p.m., at the Winter Market at the Northampton Senior Center. All donated seeds, plus extras provided by Grow Food, will be available for pickup and free of charge. If you’d like to donate seeds to the swap, stop by the contactless Seed Deposit Box on the first floor of the Arts and Industries building at 221 Pine St. in Florence; or drop off seeds at the Winter Farmers Market before March 19, between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Please make sure that any home-harvested seeds are in labeled envelopes, with the name and variety of the plant clearly written and not more than 2 years old.

413 Free Seeds: Seeds will be available at Forbes Library beginning in mid-March. 413 Free Seeds also provides information on growing and saving seeds. For more information, contact Cara Iacoponi at 413seeds@gmail.com.

 

UMass seed library: The Mass Aggie Seed Library, housed in the Science & Engineering Library, is open for public browsing on a self-serve basis from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, and offers free, locally grown seeds. More information at guides.library.umass.edu/seedlibrary.

Ox and Robin: Not a seed swap, but Ox and Robin is a local heirloom seed company in Montague that grows, selects and sells varieties of vegetable and herbs seeds that thrive in the New England climate; www.oxandrobin.com.

Seed Savers Exchange: Not local per se, but the Seed Savers Exchange is an online network of gardeners from all around the country who save and exchange heirloom seeds to preserve plant and crop biodiversity in the U.S.; www.seedsavers.org.
