Josie Dubaj smashed two home runs and drove in four RBIs, as the Smith Vocational softball team took down Gateway 12-8 on the road Monday.

Lily Ryan also homered and had three RBIs among her two hits. She scored three runs for the Vikings.

Smith Vocational’s Makayla Tatro singled four times with an RBI and scored three runs. Morgan Ball added a two-run single.

Gateway’s Kaitlyn Maynard had two hits (double) and drove in two runs.

Aalexi Bonenfant and Stephanie Paiva score two runs each.

Chicopee 10, Northampton 4 — Edie Parker-Yourga singled and scored a run for the Blue Devils.

Lilly Pelis scored twice and stole a base.

Kaliya Valentin struck out eight for Northampton.

South Hadley 10, Holyoke 3 — Jenna Bobrowski had a home run among her four hits for the Tigers. She scored two runs and drove another in.

Erin Bullough and Sophia Faginiski (four RBIs) each tripled among two hits. Bullough scored three runs. Kelli Vey (two RBIs) also single dtwice.

Faginski struck out five and allowed just four hits with a walk.

Holyoke’s Jacqueline Jourdain drove in two runs and doubled.

Hampshire 15, Minnechaug 3 (6) — Hannah Wodecki went 4-for-4 and drove in three runs for the Raiders in a road win. Katelyn Baker tripled among her three hits and had two RBIs.

Ashley Cortis had two hits (triple) and two RBIs.

Jocelyn Mettey struck out five and allowed just two hits with three walks for Hampshire.

Turners Falls 9, Smith Academy 3 — Bailey McCoy (double) and Caitlin Graves had two hits each for the Falcons on the road. Amanda Novak struck out six Thunder and walked just two.

Baseball

Frontier 11, Wahconah 5 — Tyler Baranowski struck out nine and didn’t allow a hit in five innings of work for the Redhawks. The Warriors scored all five runs in the final two innings.

Two Wahconah base runners reached in the first inning on a walk and an error, leaving them both in scoring position with no outs. Baranowski struck out the next two batters and induced a weak ground out to end the inning.

Tyler Dubriel singled three times and stole three bases. He scored twice and drove in a run.

Liam Skirbiski-Banack had two hits and scored three runs. He also walked and was hit by a pitch.

Hampshire 6, Drury 4 — Pitcher Jack Boyle earned the win for Hampshire in a close contest. Nick Quenneville went 2-2 at bat and picked up a run and two RBIs in the win. Will Hogan (2-3) and Luke Gaida picked up a run apiece, and Hogan also sent in an RBI.

Belchertown 24, Palmer 5 — Olivia Lafayette picked up four hits and four RBIs in the Orioles 19-run win against Palmer. Every Oriole player who had an at-bat recorded at least one hit; besides Lafayette, Lindsey Chrabascz and Eliza Rothstein also finished the game with four hits apiece. Laura Cote also finished with two doubles for the Orioles. 

Lafayette pitched all five innings for Belchertown, striking out five batters and allowing one walk

Girls lacrosse

South Hadley 16, Amherst 3 — Raquel Losty and Margaret Watkins scored three goals each for the Tigers. South Hadley’s Meghan Carey (assist), Gabi Moroney and Olivia Marion added two goals each.

Jodryn Balint, Erica Anderson and Ella Marion each found the net once. South Hadley’s Evelyn Gingras made six saves.

Talia Sadiq had two of the Hurricanes goals, while Emily Ireland scored the third.

Northampton 18, Pope Francis 5 — Sofia Ciaglo put away for goals for the Blue Devils in a road win. Chloe Denhart and Izzy Epstein each notched a hat trick, while Ellie Mahoney, Francesca Sloan and Thea Starr scored twice each. Weasel Ruberti and Teagan McDonald contributed a goal each.

Boys track & field

Northampton 101, East Longmeadow 28 — Rowan Hodgson doubled up in the sprints for the Blue Devils, winning the 100-meter dash in 11.56 seconds and the 200 in 23.48.

Alex Caldonaro was first in the boys triple jump (35 feet, 6.5 inches), 400 (57.18) and high jump (5-4)

Davis Wheat prevailed in both the discus (104-00) and javelin (102-06).

Girls track & field

Northampton 70, East Longmeadow 66 — Nora Reade captured the 800 and the mile for the Blue Devils. She crossed the line in 2:43.5 after the 800 and 6:04.57 in the mile.

Kira French was first in the 400 (1:06.12), and Esme Marini-Rapoport won the twomile (12:28.0).

Quincy Biddle took first in the 400 hurdles (1:14.81).

Northampton’s 4×400 relay of Lila Hensley, Xiohan Brunton, Evelyn Smith and French placed first (4:55.75).

Yelena Caldonaro cleared 4-8 to win the high jump.

Boys volleyball

Frontier 3, Duggan 0 — Frontier won in straight sets (25-11, 25-17, 25-22) against Duggan on Monday. Ngawang Deter led the team with seven kills, followed closely by Jesse Kurkulonis with six; Kurkulonis also served up seven aces. Libero Payton Sladeski finished with a team-leading 12 digs, and Jamih Griffin picked up five aces at the service line.  

Ludlow 3, Belchertown 0 — Ludlow allowed just 25 points over three sets (25-12, 25-5, 25-8) against Belchertown. Gabriel Ibekilo led the Orioles with two kills and Rocco Meausky had an ace in the loss. Setter Rainer Kristensen recorded five assists. 

Boys tennis

PVCICS 4, Pope Francis 1  — James Scott picked up the second singles win (6-1, 6-1) and Teddy Scott earned the third singles win (6-0, 6-4). First doubles team Clayton English and Patrick Canavan-Gosselin won in two sets (6-3, 6-1) as did the second doubles team of Derek Ye and Deven Ye (6-2, 6-4).

Frontier 5, SICS 0 — The Redhawks swept to a season-opening victory. Coelman Harner bested Makenzie Mongeon 6-1, 6-0 at No. 1 singles. Robeart Fuqua handled Henry Pudlo 6-4, 6-0 at No. 3 singles. Frontier picked up the No. 2 singles spot via forfeit.

Oliver Brown and Jacob Han won 7-6, 6-4 at No. 1 doubles. Benjamin desmon and Donovan Vichi added a 6-2, 10-7 win at No. 2 doubles.

Girls tennis

Northampton 5, Westfield 0 — Camille Richmond paced the Blue Devils with a 6-3, 6-3 win over Lauren Bilodeau at No. 1 singles. Summer Sorensen bested Jillian battles 6-1, 6-2 at No. 2 and Daria Warren handled Nora Scott 6-1, 6-0 at No. 3.

In No. 1 doubles, Northampton’s Roxana Clauson and Sarah Ryan won 6-3, 6-3 against Angela Bongiovanni and Hannah Blake. Louisa Dice and Annalisa Agilati took down Alexis Masciadrelli 6-1, 6-1 at No. 2 doubles.
