According to information posted by the Hampden district attorney’s office, Edwin Hernandez, 23, of Holyoke, pleaded guilty Monday to second-degree murder in Hampden Superior Court.
On June 11, 2019, according to the district attorney’s office, police responded to the intersection of Liberty Street and Genesee Street for a report of a gunshot victim, where they discovered a severely wounded Isaiah Ramos, 19, of Springfield, in the road.
Ramos later died of his injuries at Baystate Medical Center.

“The excellent investigation by Springfield Police Department’s Homicide Unit and my office’s Murder Unit led to a successful prosecution, directed by Assistant District Attorney Mary Sandstrom and appellate ADA Cynthia Payne,” said Hampden District Attorney Anthony D. Gulluni in a statement.
Per the plea agreement, Hernandez is expected to be sentenced Tuesday to life in prison with parole eligibility after 25 years.
