CHESTERFIELD — Eileen McGowan won a one-year-term on the Planning Board, defeating incumbent Carol Rhine, in Monday’s town election.

Both McGowan and Rhine, who was appointed to the seat last year, ran as write-in-candidates. McGowan won the election 45-18, according to unofficial results.

Angela Thompson appears to have won a seat on the Chesterfield-Goshen Regional School Committee that no one was running for on the ballot with two votes, although she has not yet given word on whether she will accept her election. A two-year term on the Hampshire Regional School Committee also had no contestants, and appears to have been won by Megan Sheils-Willard with a single vote, although she also has not given word on whether she will be accept.

In total, 86 out of 986 registered voters in town voted, for a turnout of 9%, according to the unofficial results. Town Clerk Sandy Wickland said that this year’s turnout beat last year’s vote total of 54.
