WILLIAMSBURG — Voters rejected an article at Monday’s annual Town Meeting that would have moved the date of the meeting to the first Saturday in June instead of the first Monday.
Town Administrator Nick Caccamo said residents who attended the meeting preferred Monday as the day for Town Meeting, not wanting a Saturday meeting to conflict with graduations and vacations.
Every other item on the 20-article warrant passed, including a reform to the town’s marijuana bylaws, the elimination of minimum hours at the Haydenville Library, and the approval of an approximately $8.6 million budget.
The meeting also passed a resolution supporting changing the flag and seal of Massachusetts. This resolution was contained in an article that was brought by citizen petition.
Caccamo said he felt the meeting was a “good exercise in democracy.” He also said that turnout was strong.
“We had a nice time,” Caccamo said.
