I am writing this open “Thank You” letter to Ren Gladu of Ren’s Mobil in downtown Amherst.

For nearly 50 years Ren has operated his service business in the center of downtown Amherst with the utmost humility, compassion and honesty. He has always put his customers first with his willingness to assist in any way he is able. He has established himself as the consummate “community guy“!

If you were to ask anyone who had the pleasure of doing business with Ren, their answer would likely be of mutual respect for their interaction. I have been one of those lucky business owners who has shared nearly all of those four-plus decades benefiting by Ren’s kindness and genuine way of taking care of his customers’ needs. I’ve lost count of the numerous vehicles I’ve purchased through Ren both personally, and for my business needs.

Having recently retired from my own community service business, I can certainly appreciate Ren’s recent decision to stop selling gasoline at this time. I am also so happy that Ren is finally able to enjoy precious quality time with his family and friends. Thank you Ren for all you have given back to the town of Amherst in your special ways!

We owe you a debt of gratitude. We all hope that you have left plenty of “gas in your tank” to fully appreciate the well-deserved time ahead of you! All the best.
