WILLIAMSBURG – With its schedule finalized and a website up, organizers for the town’s 250th anniversary are hard at work preparing for next month’s townwide celebration.

“We’re in the final stages of planning,” said Lisa Bertoldi, chairwoman of the town’s 250th committee.

The first event in the town’s commemoration of the 250th will be an Ecumenical church service on June 26, at the First Congregational Church of Williamsburg at 6:30 p.m. However, the vast majority of the extensive celebration will be taking place from July 15-17.

On July 15 , a fireworks display is scheduled to begin at 9 p.m. The following day will feature an all-day festival with events that include family fun, a crafts fair and food trucks at the Anne T. Dunphy School, live music at Burgy Brews starting at 11 a.m., and square dancing at the Williamsburg Grange with lessons beginning at 6:30 p.m. and the dance at 7:30 p.m.

“We’re very excited to be hosting a wide range of events for townspeople and visitors,” Bertoldi said.

Sunday, July 17, will feature the anniversary parade, which will start in Haydenville Center and end in Willimsburg Center. It will begin at 9:30 a.m. and the route will be along Route 9, which will close at 9:15 a.m. for the parade.

“It’s very thrilling,” Bertoldi said.

The Burgy Bullets Snowmobile Club, Western Mass Tractor Pullers Association, Williamsburg Select Board, The Dead Head Society, Hilltown Misfits 4-H Club and the Goshen Women’s Club are just some of the many entities that will be represented in the parade.

Bertoldi said the anniversary organizers are estimating that the parade will end at 11:30 a.m.

A full list of events and times for the anniversary can be found at www.burgy250th.com.

Williamsburg turned 250 last year, but the celebration was delayed because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“This celebration is very welcome,” Bertoldi said. “Our goal is to bring people together.”
