100 Years Ago

■A bulletin of the latest news, furnished by the Gazette from our leased Associated Press wire, has been put up in one of the front windows of the Hampshire County Trust company’s building. The bulletins are furnished hot from the wire and it will not be amiss to look at the board when you pass and keep posted on the news of the day.

■An exhibit of the work in penmanship done in the public schools will be shown in Butler & Ullman’s window tomorrow and Wednesday. Miss Mayo, supervisor of penmanship in the schools, is in charge of the exhibit and has prepared a fine lot of the excellent work done by the pupils.

50 Years Ago

■Miss Agnes K. O’Donnell was honored at a special ceremony commemorating her retirement from teaching the Northampton public schools. She was a Grade 4 teacher at Leeds School and has been with the department for 45 years.

■The Northampton Rotary Club’s Beerfest, which starts at noon today and runs through tomorrow, is expected to attract thousands. It will be held at Northampton’s Three County Fairgrounds and will feature German beer, food, music and entertainment.
