The Vinatieri kicking legacy won’t continue in Amherst.
Punter A.J. Vinatieri, the son of former Patriots kicker Adam Vinatieri, announced he was decommitting from the UMass football program Friday night on Twitter. He said his recruitment was “100 percent open.”
The Zionsville, Indiana, product initially pledged himself to the Minutemen in a live Instagram stream on Jan. 31. He also had scolarship offers from Eastern Illinois, Eastern Kentucky, Lawrence Tech and Morehead State, according to 247sports.com. 247 considered him the No. 15 kicker in the country.
