UMass women’s basketball unveiled the team’s non-conference schedule on Wednesday afternoon, highlighted by three games against Power-5 programs, including Final Four preseason pick Tennesse.

UMass will travel to Tennessee on November 10 to take on the Lady Vols, a perennial titan in the SEC. They’ll face another SEC opponent in Missouri on December 3 and Pac-12 opponent Arizona State on December 2, both part of a tournament hosted by Arizona State.

The Minutewomen won their first A-10 championship last year, punching their ticket to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 1998. The team finished with a 26-7 overall record, and will return all five of its starters – Destiney Philoxy, Angelique Ngalakulondi, Sydney Taylor, Ber’Nyah Mayo and A-10 Player of the Year Sam Breen. In addition, the Minutewomen added two top-tier transfers in Laila Fair and Kristin Williams. In a nutshell – this is a team that’s more than capable of taking on top tier programs.

Six of the Minutewomen’s non-conference games will be at the Mullins Center, while they’ll hit the road for the remaining seven. In addition to its SEC and Pac 12 conference matchups, UMass will face off against teams from the Ivy League, America East and Northeast conferences, among others.

UMass will play its first game of the 2022-23 season in an exhibition contest against Assumption at home. Their official season will start on November 7 at the Mullins Center, where they’ll take on Central Connecticut State; tip-off time is TBD.
