GREENFIELD — U.S. Sen. Elizabeth Warren will visit Franklin County on Saturday morning with a stop at Greenfield Community College, where she plans to host a town hall and meet and greet with her constituents.
“We’re really excited for it,” said Keith Bailey, director of grants and government relations at Greenfield Community College. “We’re the only institute of higher education in Franklin County, and as such, we serve as a really important hub for community action and resources.”
The town hall will take place on the Core Patio, with seating starting at 10 a.m. and Warren beginning the event at 10:30 a.m., according to her office. The public is encouraged to participate in the free event, as Warren will answer questions from attendees.
Bailey said the topics covered at the event will be at Warren’s discretion. During a previous visit to Greenfield in November 2017, Warren took questions from a crowd estimated at just under 1,000 on topics ranging from food insecurity to global arms sales, the future of the Democratic Party, how to get involved in political activism, and local issues like broadband access.
She covered the broad idea of moving back to a time when government worked for everyone, and broke down different ways government can get back to helping the majority of Americans through regulation, investment in research, and investment in opportunity through progressive taxation.
Bailey noted that Warren has always been responsive to the needs of the community college.
“We’re very excited to be able to bring both Franklin County and the larger community in western Mass. to our campus again,” Bailey said.
Those attending the event are encouraged to bring chairs or blankets for seating. On-site parking is available without charge.
