ASHFIELD — While an investigation continues, police have identified the victim in Saturday’s fatal crash on Route 116 in Ashfield as Rebecca Whitehead, 53, of Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
She was killed in a two-car collision at the intersection of Pleasant Street and Route 116, which occurred at around 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, according to the Northwestern District Attorney’s Office. Whitehead was pronounced dead at the scene at roughly 6:10 p.m.
The driver of the other vehicle, a 22-year-old man from East Longmeadow, was transported by ambulance to Baystate Franklin Medical Center in Greenfield for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, according to the DA’s office. There were no passengers in either vehicle.
