Showcasing its lineup depth, the Belchertown boys cross country team picked up an impressive victory over Northampton on Tuesday.
The Orioles swept a tri-meet that also included Chicopee, earning a tight 28-30 win over the Blue Devils as well as a 15-50 victory over the Pacers. Northampton also took down Chicopee, 15-50.
Belchertown’s Brandon Adamson led five Orioles in the top 10, as he was third overall with a time of 17 minutes, 47 seconds at the 2.8-mile course at Foley Field in Belchertown.
Carter Masse was fourth overall (18:10), followed by teammates Derek Gould (sixth, 18:29), Ty O’Donnell (seventh, 18:30) and Ben Les (eighth, 18:45).
“Solid pack running for Belchertown… very proud of our guys,” said Belchertown coach Bill Wheeler, who noted the win over Northampton was the first in his 12 seasons with the program.
Northampton’s Davis Wheat was the overall winner, posting a first-place time of 17:27, followed by teammate Jude Mourad in second place (17:28). Calvin Cote-L’Heureux finished fifth for the Devils (18:26).

Pioneer 23, Hopkins 32 – The host Raiders improved to 10-0 on the season thanks to a dominant sweep in a four-school meet on Tuesday at the 2.9-mile course in Westhampton.
Dillon Neveu led the way with the individual victory in 17:03, followed by teammates Gavin DaFonte (second, 17:30) and Tim Cahill (third, 17:51). Hampshire’s Spencer Reese took fifth.
Chris Rex was Hopkins’ top finisher in 13th place.
Amherst 23, Ludlow 34 – David Pinero-Jacome bested the field with a time of 18:13 on the 5K course to lead the Hurricanes to a tight win.
Diego Lopez was third for Amherst (18:54), with teammates Aidan Bergeron (fifth, 18:55) and Sam Woodruff (sixth, 18:55) close behind.
Gateway 15, St. Mary’s 50 – The Gators wept through with the top five finishers. Jacob Maynard crossed the line first in 22:07. Logan Hawley followed in second (25:30), Lucas Gilbert in third (25:51), Jeff Antonellis in fourth (26:22) and Sean Forgue in fifth (26:30).

PVCICS 24 McCann 33 – Kyan Franz led a top-two sweep for the Dragons, who went 2-0 at Nonotuck Park. He crossed the line first in 18:06, while Grafton Tolopko placed second (18:20). Owen Bauman placed sixth (19:29), Gaius Turner seventh (19:41) and Thomas Nusslein ninth (20:43).

Westfield 25, Holyoke 33 — Holyoke’s Elijah Quinn set a new course record at Holyoke with a time of 19:44 on Tuesday in a meet between the Rams, the Purple Knights, Westfield Tech and Hampden Charter.
Granby’s Nathan Hutchinson took second while fellow Ram Braeden Gallagher came in third. Holyoke’s Pablo Tapion took fourth overall.

PVCICS 21 McCann 37 – Sarah Fardal broke the Nonotuck Park course record, taking the individual victory for the Dragons in 22:12. The old record was 22:25.
Ella Maier finished third (24:45), Emma Vasovic fourth (24:49), Nina Drummond seventh 26:02) and Althea Turner eighth (26:04).

Northampton 15, Chicopee 50 – The Blue Devils took three of the top four spots and swept the tri meet at Foley Field to remain unbeaten at 6-0. Maeve O’Neill crossed first in 21:17 in nearly a dead heat with teammate Tess Geis-Benton (21:18).
Taylor Lynch placed fourth (23:05), Xiohan Brunton was sixth (23:27) and Charlotte Shimpach seventh (23:48) to round out Northampton’s scoring.
Molly Bail led the Orioles in third (21:37). Cameron Ting took fifth (23:13) for Belchertown, and Natalie Shaw was 10th (24:15).

Southwick 18, Hopkins 43 – The Raiders moved to 10-0 with the sweep, putting six of the top seven runners across the line.
Ellia Masenior took first in 20:28, followed by teammates Kathleen Barry (second, 20:55), Sicily Chase (fourth, 21:33), Keegan Butler (fifth, 21:47), Audrey Perrone (sixth, 22:00) and Amelia Perry (seventh, 22:02).
Hopkins’ Caprial DiBartolomeo led her side with a ninth place overall finish in 23:14.
Gateway 15, St. Mary’s 40 — Anya Niles was the top runner across the finish line (24:19) as the Gator girls picked up a win against the Saints on Tuesday.
Alexandra Henrichon took second (24:27) while Lucy Pitoniak (third, 26:57), Sawyer Wilkinson (fourth, 27:26), Alexandra Zajko (fifth, 27:57), Abby Robbins (sixth, 30:36), Lily Peloquin (seventh, 31:21) and Bella Moulton (10th, 32:39) also finished in the top 10 for Gateway.

Westfield 25, Hampden 30 — In the girls race, Holyoke’s Kya Donnelly took second, Granby’s Quinlan Cook came in third, Holyoke’s Kiara Perez came in fourth and Hampden Charter’s Ellainne Desrochers took fifth.
Easthampton 1, South Hadley 0 – Jack Belcher-Timme netted the game’s lone tally, as the Eagles blanked the Tigers, 1-0.
Kaden Garvey notched the assist on the game-winning strike. Easthampton goalie Guiseppe DeNucce-Simms made six saves for the shutout, and South Hadley keeper Eddie Wykowski stopped five shots.
Amherst 1, Longmeadow 0 — Hurricane Patrick Staudenmayer scored the game’s lone goal off an assist from Arthur Vickery to lead Amherst past the Lancers on Tuesday.
Belchertown 4, East Longmeadow 2 – Aiden Torna, Elias Marques, Jack Holt and Joey Borelli all found the back of the net as the Orioles doubled up the Spartans.
Belchertown led 3-2 at halftime. Borelli assisted on two goals while Holt and Torna also added helpers. Jack Mandeville stopped two shots in the Orioles’ net.
Northampton 3, Monson 0 – Leo DeRose notched a goal and an assist for the Blue Devils in a home win.
Northampton’s Baruani Ngoy and Ryland Breen each scored a goal, while Rowan Dunkerly and Connor Stiles provided an assist each.
Koa Klose saved two shots for the Blue Devils.
McCann 1, Gateway 0 – Ivan Laing scored the lone goal in the 70th minute for the Hornets.
Gateway goalie Shane Cooper made 12 saves.
Central 3, Holyoke 1 – Landon Koziara kept out 15 shots for the Purple Knights, who scored in the first half.
Smith Voc 4, Putnam 0 – Four different Vikings tallied in the victory.
Caitlin Willard, Kaleah Gamache, Monique Fredette and Jayanna Daniels all scored goals, with Willard picking up an assist. Goalie Maggie Lauder made two saves.
Commerce 6, PVCICS 0 – Maeve Dohety made eight saves for the Dragons on the road.
Belchertown 5, Holyoke 0 — Abigail Olden recorded a hat trick while Bella Cebula scored twice to lead the Orioles to a win over the Purple Knights in Belchertown on Tuesday.
Olden and Edith Audette each had an assist for Belchertown. Eliza Rothstein made six saves in the win while Isabella Murphy stopped eight shots in the loss for Holyoke.
Frontier 1, Northampton 0 — Ashley Taylor had the lone tally of the game, scoring in the second quarter for the Redhawks to lift them to an independent win over the Blue Devils in Northampton on Tuesday.
Ella Flanders stopped the only shot she faced in the win while Katie James made four saves for Northampton.
Smith Academy 3, Mahar 1 – A pair of goals from Bella Gavron propelled the Falcons to a Valley League victory on Tuesday night.
Alexa Jagodzinski also scored for Smith Academy, with assists from Cat Kokoski and Jillian Lavallee.
Hadley Szynal stopped four shots in goal and Charlotte Cavanaugh paced the defensive effort.
Easthampton, Hopkins and Greenfield participated in a tri-meet at the Holyoke Country Club on Tuesday, with the Eagles beating the Golden Hawks, 19.5-4.5, but falling to the Green Wave, 16-8. Greenfield beat Hopkins, 22.5-1.5.
Tanner Kmetz finished with a team-low 42 for the Eagles while Connor Perreault (47), Amelia Gruber (51), Lydia Buttrick (53), Evan Kalin (63) and Angelo Torchia (69) also competed for Easthampton.
Christian Ciolkos (42) had the low score for Hopkins, while Taylor Berry (49), Tyler St. Hilaire (57) and Sasha Li (64) also competed.
Northampton 23.5, Chicopee .5 — Galen Fowles was the match medalist wit h a 36 as the Blue Devils picked up a victory at the Chicopee Golf Club on Tuesday.
Reilly Fowles (40), Jack Mattison-Gulotta (43), Jack Carpenter (46), Ben O’Connor (46) and Calvin Paddock (44) also won their matchups for Northampton.
Belchertown 157, Southwick 172 — Riley Breen was the match medalist with a 35 as the Orioles came out victorious against the Rams on Tuesday.
Michael Murray and Tyler McDonald each carded a 40 while Jared Haynes and Henry Poissant each shot a 42 in the win.
