It was a big evening for the Easthampton volleyball team on Thursday.

The Eagles closed out their regular season home slate with a win over Holyoke, notching a 14-25, 25-17, 25-18, 25-13 victory.

Kayley Downie dug up 27 balls for Easthampton (12-6) and Maggie Barr had 12 kills, seven digs and three aces. Erin Teague finished with 15 assists and six kills and Kaelin Damon had a team-high 10 aces. 

Rhina Cortez Rodriguez had seven kills and four blocks for Holyoke (8-8) and Erin Gauthier finished with a team-high 25 digs and two kills. Gissel Santos Ruiz had 10 assists in the loss. 

Belchertown 3, Ware o – The Orioles defeated Ware in three straight sets, but the third and final frame was one for the ages. After winning the first two sets 25-14 and 25-22, the third set went to a deuce and went back and forth. Eventually, Belchertown pulled off a 32-30 win to clinch the victory. 

Michelle Zaluga had six aces and Hailey Smith had four kills, eight aces and a block.

Amherst 3, Minnechaug 0 – The Hurricanes dispatched Minnechaug in three sets (25-17, 25-10, 25-17). 

Talia Sadiq led the team with 11 digs while setter Annabel Ogden dished out 19 assists and five aces. Amalia Martin had 15 kills and four aces along with 10 assists. Lauren Joy and Audrey Bowen each finished with five kills. 

Boys soccer

Duggan 4, PVCICS 3 – The Dragons dropped a close contest to Duggan on Thursday.

Teddy Scott scored twice and Patrick Canavan-Gosselin netted the third goal for PVCICS. Nolan Gage, James Scott and Clayton English had an assist each. 

PVCICS goalie Pom-Richard Ang made three stops, and defender Owen Wallace also made a goal-line save for the Dragons. 

Gateway 2, Putnam 2 – Andrew Nedeoglo and Owen Przybyla tallied the Gators’ goals in a 2-2 Bi-County League draw on Thursday.

Ivan Chepurenko and Jayden Santiago-Lopez assisted on the Gateway goals. Shane Cooper made five saves in net.

Girls soccer

Quaboag 2, Granby 1 – Molly Zumbruski scored Granby’s lone goal in a close defeat against Quaboag on Thursday. 

Field hockey

Minnechaug 0, Frontier 0 — It was a defensive battle in South Deerfield on Thursday. 

The Redhawks and the Falcons combined for just four shots on goal, with the game ending in a 0-0 Suburban League draw. 

Ella Flanders made two saves for Frontier.

Smith Academy 2, Mohawk Trail 0 — Jillian Lavallee scored twice to lift the Falcons to an impressive Valley League win over the Warriors in Buckland Thursday. 

Hampshire 1, Amherst 0 – Chloe Moynihan scored Hampshire’s goal with an assist from Lydia Donatelli to lift the Raiders to a shutout victory over Amherst. 

Hampshire goalie Oliva Labrie made two saves to pick up the shutout. 

West Springfield 3, South Hadley 0 – Caraghan Wartel made three saves against West Springfield in a shutout loss on Thursday.
