When I came out as a lesbian in 1972, I couldn’t imagine that 50 years later I would be sitting at the breakfast table with my wife reading about the President of the United States having worked to free the Black lesbian from Russian custody as he hugs her wife, who is beaming. As the Beatles sang , it has been “a long and winding road.” I am so grateful to see this day.
