Here is a shout out of thanks to the Hestia Art Collective. I have lived in the Hilltowns and now Amherst for nearly 40 years. When I moved from Washington, D.C., I had wanted a community in western Massachusetts. It was the downtown women’s mural that made me choose Northampton as our base community. At the time my partner was a woman and we, as feminists, knew any town that had a mural that size with the history of its women on the side of the phone company building was a town we could relate happily to. And so it was and still is. Finally I can thank you for your labors and inspiration and the Gazette, too, for your coverage.
