The finalist for the school superintendent position in Easthampton attributes his use of certain language to childhood learning. Others, in support of the finalist, have made similar remarks. I hope that neither the finalist nor his supporters are suggesting the resurrection of other words that have been rightly excised from public discourse for the sake of our more perfect union.
