AMHERST — A second job fair organized by the Five College Consortium, which follows one held in October, takes place at the Red Barn at Hampshire College Wednesday afternoon.
The Five College Job Fair runs from 1 to 4 p.m. at 893 West St/ Route 116, and marks a collaboration between the campuses of Smith, Amherst, Hampshire and Mount Holyoke colleges and the University of Massachusetts. Like the previous one held at Venture Way in Hadley and hosted by UMass, this one is expected to have one-stop shopping for hundreds of high-priority openings in numerous departments.
“The response to the first Five College job fair was outstanding, and so it was an easy decision for all of us to organize another one this year,” Jake Toomey, senior director of human resources at Hampshire College, said in a statement. “Five College campuses are excellent employers, offering good-paying jobs with great benefits in a wide range of fields. We see this as a perfect opportunity to match our campuses with area job seekers.”
Last fall, the five campuses had more than 700 openings. That has been reduced to a little more than 400 current openings, said Kevin Kennedy, a spokesman for Five Colleges.
Attendees will be able to talk with campus representatives and explore job opportunities. Refreshments will be available and gift bags of campus souvenirs will be raffled off to attendees.
The campus departments with openings include administration, campus safety, dining services, early learning center, elementary school, facilities and grounds, information technology, library services, alumni relations and student affairs
