The Northampton Youth Football program is on a roll again this season. All three teams are pushing for the playoffs and preparing for this Saturday’s home battles against Frontier.
The ’Hamp PeeWees are undefeated at 4-0 behind strong play from young star running backs Aevin LePorte and Joriel Figueroa, quarterback Jayko Rivera and linemen Myles Crowder and Henry Baker. The PeeWees will have their toughest test of the season Saturday against fellow unbeaten Red Hawk PeeWees.
The ’Hamp Junior squad is battling for the playoffs at 2-2, playing behind stars Damion “Turtle” Campbell Jr., Jackson Carlotto and quarterback Jacob Staples. The Juniors have an all-important game against the Junior Red Hawks, which currently sit at 1-3.
The ’Hamp Seniors, otherwise known as “The Main Event,” are off to a 4-0 start and are getting stronger each week, outscoring opponents 81-6 so far this year. Spencer Warner and Artevian “Mop-Mop” Soum-Morrero lead the potent ’Hamp offense, and Lionel “L-Train” Claybaugh and Sky Van Stee have led a defense that has only given up one touchdown through four games. The Seniors face-off against a very good Frontier Senior squad, which currently sits at 3-1.
The games kick off at 4 p.m. this Saturday as Smith Vocational High School in Northampton.
