
Top-seeded Hampshire Regional will play for a Western Mass. title.
The unbeaten Raiders continued their run with a 4-2 win over No. 5 Monument Mountain on Saturday in the Western Mass. Class B semifinals.
Hampshire will play No. 6 Frontier in the Class B finals on Tuesday at West Springfield High School
Brendan Stevenson and Owen Miller tallied first-half goals, and Miller notched his second of the night in the second half. Erving Henderson also scored for the Raiders.
โAll the goals were important and timely, but Owen Miller’s second goal was outstanding,โ Hampshire coach Dan Moynahan said. โOwen received the pass around the 19-yard line, put his foot through the ball full power and bent it upper right hand corner: his technique, power, and curl were immaculate.โ
Colin Holt made five saves for Hampshire.
Class D semis
Granby 1, Smith Academy 0 โย Tristan Moe scored the game-winning goal in the 79th minute in the Ramsโ 1-0 win over the two-time defending Western Mass. champions Smith Academy.
Cody White registered the assist to Moe, who was able to find the back of the net with a minute and change to spare.
Daniel Santiago made six saves for the Rams, and Falcons keeper Jake Wilcox added four of his own.
Class B semis
Pope Francis 5,ย Hampshire 0 โย Isabella Meadows scored three goals and the top-seeded Cardinals built a 4-0 halftime lead en route to the semifinal victory.
Makena Rogalski made nine saves for the Raiders.
Class D semis
Granby 5,ย Mount Everett 4 โย The Rams escaped a high-scoring overtime thriller thanks to a game-winning goal from Maggie Crawford that sent Granby into the Class D championship game against Palmer.
Kalli White was terrific for the Rams as well with two goals and three assists,ย Autumn Sicard and Brenna Moreno each added a score, and Sophia Gagnon chipped in an assist.
Eleanor Szlosek grabbed three saves to do just enough in the win.ย
Palmer 4, Smith Academy 1 โย The Falcons had no answer for the Panthersโ Charlotte Theriault and her three goals, as Smith Academy fell to Palmer in the Class D semifinals.
Caitlin Graves added yet another goal to her already impressive junior year, and Anna Scagel picked up an assist. Madison Zononi put forth a strong effort in the box with 14 saves in the loss.
Class A semis
Minnechaug 5, Northampton 0 โย Audrey Izzo scored two goals for the Falcons, which broke through after a scoreless first quarter in the semifinal round on Saturday.
Northampton goalieย Charlotte Johnson-Mersack made 10 saves.
Small Vocational tourney
Franklinย 3, Smith Voc 2 โย The Vikings received an all-around effort from Heidymar Diaz-Lopez (seven kills, four digs, two aces, two assists, one block), but it wasnโt enough as they fell to Franklin in the first round of the Small Vocational Tournament.
Set scores wereย 25-19, 25-18, 19-25, and 25-21.
Irelyn Marcoux had six kills and an ace,ย Roma Bentrewicz set up her teammates with 18 assists, andย Jaelyn Kulas had four big digs in the back rowย to go along withย threeย kills in Smith Vocโs loss.
Boys soccer
St. Maryโs 2, Hopkins 1 โย Emma Goodreauย and Macy Woodgerย each netted a goal for the Saints and the Golden Hawks couldnโt find much offensively in a 2-1 loss.
Helen Vissasย scored the lone Hopkins goal on a nice pass from her sister Ephie Vissas.
