Easthampton will square off with Northampton for the Senior Division title of the Suburban Amateur Football League (SAFL) this Saturday. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m., and the game will be held at Agawam High School.
Easthampton routed the Palmer Cowboys 34-6 in a semifinal game last weekend behind electric play from star player Hunter Montalvo-Greene to reach the big game.
Meanwhile, the Blue Devils played an epic semifinal contest, edging Frontier, 13-12. After trailing 6-0 at the half “Mop-Mop” Soum-Morrero added to his outstanding season with a 50-yard rushing touchdown to tie things up. Late in the fourth quarter, quarterback Conner Emerson had an amazing scramble allowing him to find a wide open Caiden Fournier for the touchdown to put ’Hamp in front. With only seconds left, Frontier scored a 70-yard passing touchdown to make the score 13-12. Frontier went for the win on the two-point conversion, but Lionel “L-train” Claybaugh got into the backfield and slammed the door shut to end the game.
The Eagles and Devils have split their games right down the middle over the last three years, setting up a super finish to the SAFL season.
