It is good to hear that the Northampton is improving the lighting under the rail trail and railroad bridges at the east end of Main Street. However, I expect the results will be to highlight the uninviting drips, puddles, mud, trash, and uneven sidewalks that discourage pedestrian transit. Maybe that’s a good thing since planners might better understand what has so long plagued that subterranean traversal for walkers, drivers, and parkers.
