Dom Sanchez netted 15 points and Jack Riley added 12 points to pace the Smith Vocational boys basketball team to a 58-45 Tri-County South League win over PVCICS on Monday night.
Luis Delerme chipped in eight points, while Myles Chinappa and Trenton Clark scored five apiece for the Vikings. The Dragons were led by Grafton Tolopko, as the freshman put up a team-high 15 points in the loss.
Chicopee 62, Amherst 53 — The Hurricanes struggled to get consistent open looks on the offensive end, and the Pacers saw three double-digit scorers in a Valley Wheel contest.
Marcielo Aquino netted 22 points for Amherst, while Sam Woodruff (8 points) and Spencer Waite (7 points) combined for 15. The ‘Canes fall to 4-5 with the loss.
Ware 55, Granby 49 — Colin Murdock’s five 3-pointers and 17 points weren’t enough for the Rams on Monday, as they fell to Ware by six in a Bi-County West League game.
NeNe Fernandez also added 13 points, while Sawyer Clarke chipped in eight points in the loss.
Brady Guimond led Ware with 17 points as one of three players in double figures.
Central 64, Holyoke 51 — Calvin Godbolt’s 31 points were too much for the Purple Knights to overcome in Monday night’s Valley League matchup.
Holyoke was led by Dylan Rohan’s 13 points (three 3s) and Shawn Rivera’s 12 points. Dominick Renaldi chipped in 10 points as well in the loss.
Greenfield 56, Hopkins 27 — Amber Bergeron’s 29 points were too much for the Golden Hawks to overcome despite eight different Hopkins players recording a point.
Juliana Eichenlaub put up a team-high six points while Chloe Kosciusko, Cassidi Mushenski, and Laney Crutch added four points apiece in the Golden Hawks’ loss.
Hockey
Ludlow 3, Amherst 1 — Jack Dyjach tallied the lone goal for the Hurricanes in a loss on Saturday.
Cooper Beckwith and Yuuki Ishida netted assists, and goalie Spencer McDonald stopped 24 shots for Amherst.
Seven different scorers found the back of the net as the Williston Northampton girls hockey team cruised to a 7-1 win over Tabor on Saturday.
Liv Ferebee was outstanding in net, making some key saves to ensure the victory for the Wildcats.
■ Elsewhere, Skyler Walker (11 points) and Morgan Dulude (10) tallied in double figures as the girls basketball team dropped a 54-35 decision to Berkshire School.
■ On the boys basketball side, the ’Cats edged local foe Deerfield Academy, 60-56, with contributions from across the roster.
■ In other action, the boys hockey team received a goal from Nick Nader in a 7-1 loss to Berkshire.
