
Amherst placed in the top 10 in five events at the 77th New England Interscholastic Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Saturday at the University of New Hampshire.
State 400 meter champ Moriah Luetjen placed fourth in the event (55.94 seconds), fastest among all Massachusetts runners.
Luetjen also anchored a fifth-place finish for the girls 4×400 relay squad. Ella Austin, Ruby Austin, Ololara Baptiste and Luetjen combined to run a time of 4:06.41, also the fastest among all Massachusetts relays in the event.
Amherst also picked up a 21st place in the girls 4×100 relay (50.59) with a squad comprised of the two Austin sisters, Baptiste and Kora Brissett.
The boys 4×800 team of Nico Lisle, Calvin Miller, Miguel Pinero-Jacome and David Pinero-Jacome placed 16th with a time of 8:16.80.
Amherst’s Logan Alfandari followed up his state title in the shot put with another personal best of 56 feet, 6.75 inches to pick up eighth place. He also placed sixth in the discus with a throw of 50.29 meters to grab sixth place.
Angel Hernandez placed first in the boys wheelchair shot put (3.17m).
