Recently I had lunch at a local (Amherst) restaurant. The table arrangements were such that I was facing another, with about six patrons, none of whom I knew. When it came time to pay the bill the server indicated it been paid for by the people at the other table. She said they indicated that โthey wanted to do something โnice,โโ and I was the fortunate beneficiary of their kindness and generosity. I think of this on โbadโ days, as I hope you will, to confirm that there really are some โniceโ people out there! Further, this is the only way I can thank them. (I expect to return to that restaurant soon!)
