The recent column by Olin Rose-Bardawil is one of the most appalling pieces I’ve read in the Gazette [“RFK Jr. could bring change to health woes,” Dec. 13].

RFK Jr. is a grifter and a nepo baby with no health and managerial expertise, but with an enormous ego, who has been vehemently anti-vax for decades (plus a slew of other conspiracy nonsense). He is directly responsible for dozens of kids dying of measles in Samoa.

Could Americans eat better? Yes. Could the incoming POTUS appoint someone to Health and Human Services with the requisite experience to lead that department, who also seeks to improve nutrition? Absolutely, but this nomination is about the “quo” (of quid pro quo) and part of dismantling of governmental services.

An unvaccinated population poses a much greater threat to public health than food choices made by individuals. Mark my words, if confirmed, RFK Jr. will not improve national nutrition one bit — to believe otherwise is complete foolishness. This twilight zone is no fun at all (and don’t get me started on the risks of raw milk, especially acute with the rapid spreading of H1N5). RFK Jr. shouldn’t be allowed within a hundred yards of HHS, let alone as secretary.
