Jacob Ouimette, 17, a forestry student at Smith Vocational and Agricultural High School doing a co-op at Bashista Orchards in Southampton, moves pruned limbs from under the apple trees so they can be easily ground up. There are mice that live under the trees and eat the roots so for the last three months Ouimette has been clearing the growth around the trunks of the trees. โ€œThe worst part is the wind, with no leaves on the trees and just fields there is nothing to block it, it gets cold up here,โ€ said Ouimette.
