The Hopkins boys basketball team put up a valiant effort against a strong Greenfield team on the road on Friday night, but the Golden Hawks eventually fell, 63-44, to fall to 2-13 on the season.
Eric Cruz-Perez scored a team-high 11 points including three makes from behind the arc, Chace Earle scored 10 points and Logan Bye tossed in nine points for Hopkins. The Hawks found themselves down 43-23 at the break, and outscored the Green Wave 21-20 over the next two quarters โย but it was too little too late.
During the first meeting between Hopkins and Greenfield, the Green Wave won 66-40, so the Golden Hawks improved this time around in the second matchup โย this one coming up in Greenfield.
Hopkins hosts Frontier next Tuesday looking to snap its seven-game losing streak.
Smith Academy 46,ย Turners Falls 37 โย Garret Willard scored 18 points and Cam Graves added eight as the Falcons won a low-scoring affair against the Thunder on Friday night.
Harry LaFlamme scored seven points as well for Smith Academy.
Hampshire 66, Franklin Tech 59 โ Jack Wresien and Vynce Carr both put up 19 points for the Raiders, who knocked off the Eagles in Turners on Friday.ย
Braylon Jarrett chipped in eight points in the victory.
Smith Vocationalย 49, Pathfinder 37 โย To no surprise, it was Dom Sanchez leading the charge for the Vikings โย tossing in 21 points in the Smith Voc win.
Joshua Cole scored a dozen points and Jack Riley added seven for the Vikings.
South Hadley 59,ย Hampshire 41 โย Cara Dean erupted for 21 points and Olivia Athas added 15 as the Tigers extended their winning streak to a dozen games with a win over the Raiders on Friday night.
Seven other Tigers scored in a balanced attack.
Julianne Moro put up a team-high 12 points for Hampshire.

Drury 50, Belchertown 39 โย After trailing by only one at halftime, the Orioles were outscored 14-5 in the third ย frame โย making all the difference in a tough loss to Drury on the road in North Adams on Thursday night.
Chloe LaRoche scored a game-high 17 points for Belchertown, while Morghan Litz (10) and Aubrey Klingensmith (eight) combined for 18 points in defeat.
