โ William H. Kiely of Northampton narrowly escaped serious injury when the heavy Lincoln sedan which he was driving toward this city went over an embankment, crashed through a fence and mowed down a thick apple sapling near the McConnell farm on the Easthampton highway early yesterday morning.
โ Following a report by the assistant superintendent that vandals at Ryan Road Elementary School have caused more than $1,500 damage since June 1, new regulations by the Northampton School Committee prohibit persons from being within 15 feet of a school building after school hours and require all persons and vehicles to be off school grounds by dusk, except for school sponsored or approved activities.
โ McCallumโs Department Store building on Main Street has been sold to Floyd Andrus Jr., an electrical contractor who is a resident of Northampton. The purchaser is interested in leasing the building as a department store and stated that he was not interested in using it as a mini mall.
