
NORTHAMPTON — As part of Bay State Bike Month, Northampton bicycling advocates are hosting a variety of events to get folks rolling for Bike Week that kicks off on Monday.
The events include:
Monday, May 12, Bike Repair Clinic from 5-7 p.m., Forbes Library.
Wednesday, May 14, 26th Annual Community Bike Breakfast from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m., Pulaski Park. Also on Wednesday, Bike Camping 101: 6 to 8 p.m., Northampton Bicycle.
Thursday, May 15, Friends of Northampton Trails Bike Party, 6 to 8 p.m., Pulaski Park.
Friday, May 16, Bike Commuter Happy Hour from 6-8 p.m., The Barb & Olive, sponsored by Northampton Bicycle.
Saturday, May 17, Informal Revolutionary War 250 Ride, 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., downtown Williamsburg.
Sunday, May 18, Ritual Mountain Bike Film Festival from 6-9 p.m., Tree House Brewing Company in Deerfield.
Saturday, May 31, Guided Great Tree Bicycle Tour from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., Roundhouse Plaza parking lot. Bicyclists can also take self-guided tours from May 10-18 by downloading the map and riding at their own pace.

AMHERST — In advance of the temporary closure of the 43 Amity St. main branch of the Jones Library after business on Wednesday, patrons are being encouraged to check out books and bring boxes or tote bags with them.
“Every book you bring home is one we don’t have to pack,” says Library Director Sharon Sharry.
Return dates will be extended automatically.
A farewell celebration on Saturday runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., with activities including guided and self- guided tours, a scavenger hunt of historic building details, and a selfie station.
“We hope people will come snap a photo of themselves in their favorite nook, stairwell or section,” Sharry said. “This community loves this library. This week is our chance to say farewell for now.”
The temporary location, will be at 101 University Drive, though the opening date there is not yet known. Portions of the adult collection will be housed at Munson Memorial Library, but the rest of the circulating collections, what don’t go into deep storage, will be intact at the the temporary location.
AMHERST — Amherst’s fiscal year 2026 budget will be the focus of the Cuppa Joe with Paul Friday morning.
Town Manager Paul Bockelman, Treasurer/Collector Jennifer LaFountain and Clerk of the Council Athena O’Keefe. will be at the event, being held in Room 101 at the Bangs Community Center from 8 to 9:30 a.m.
The budget includes all aspects of town operations, including the schools and libraries, between July 1, 2025 and June 30, 2026.
Residents and others are welcome to share their concerns and offer suggestions during the conversation.
