A hopelessly stupid political cartoon appeared in the June 25 Gazette. In it, a 35-year-old version of Donald Trump has slain the huge dragon of “Iran’s Nuclear Threat” and a Schumer-like donkey is nattering at him for it.
Why stupid? Well, the dragon exists only in Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s head. As political comedian John Stewart pointed out, Bibi trots the dragon out every couple years, with no evidence, to get or stay in power and out of prison. Trump got suckered. Stupid also because the Pentagon analysis is that Trump has not slain the imaginary dragon, he has just stepped on its toes. And stupid since Donald has not had that much hair in decades.
A non-stupid cartoon on the same topic would show Bibi and Trump drowning in a sea of negative public opinion, but Bibi has a life preserver with the words “SS Endless War” on it and he is telling Trump, “Bomb Iran. It’ll help us both!”
