NORTHAMPTON — The City of Northampton, in partnership with the Friends of Northampton Pickleball, is thrilled to announce the grand opening of the new pickleball courts at Ray Ellerbrook Field, located at 48 Burts Pit Road in Northampton, on Saturday, July 26 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The community is invited to join in a festive launch party featuring fun, fitness and community spirit for all ages and abilities.

Here is the planned schedule of events for the day:

10 a.m. — Interactive play begins, with open courts for all skill levels including kids, beginners and adaptive players.

11 a.m. — Official ribbon-cutting ceremony with remarks by Mayor Gina-Louise Sciarra, city officials and representatives from the Friends of Northampton Pickleball.

Following the ceremony, exhibition matches, court play with adaptive play (including wheelchair pickleball), learn-to-play demonstrations and play on a dedicated kids court will take place for the remainder of the time.

The event is free and open to the public. Whether you have lots of experience as a pickleball player or are brand new to the sport, you are welcome to come out and celebrate this exciting addition to Northampton’s Park & Recreation offerings. For details, see www.northamptonma.gov/recreation.
