I have a number of friends who are against the pipeline. But most of them have not yet done what they easily can to reduce their own carbon emissions. First, buy an electric car, or better yet, get rid of your car and use public transportation. The information is readily available on this topic. Second, buy electricity from a supplier who provides only green electricity.
In Massachusetts, we are able to select our electricity supplier. There are quite a few who supply only green electricity. Look online for Energy Switch Massachusetts. Third, and hardest, switch to electricity to heat and cool your home. Most of us still use fossil fuels to heat our homes. Heat pumps can provide heat to -5 degrees. Warning: It will cost you significantly more to heat your home in winter. Any of these steps will cost you money. But nobody said stopping climate change was going to be cheap. Do what you can to stop carbon emissions, then I will listen more closely when you try to stop the new pipeline.
