Mark your calendars. Forbes Library will be dedicating the new Hess Performance Stage on Saturday, Sept. 13 at 3 p.m. The ribbon cutting will be held on the west lawn of the library. We’re planning an afternoon yard party that coincides with the Taste of Northampton. You’re going to be downtown anyway, come on up the hill.
The stage has been three years in the making. It was built with donations to the library from many in the community including Marjorie Hess, a past trustee, for whom the stage is named. Funding also was secured from federal and state grants and an initial gift by the Friends of Forbes Library. An AARP Massachusetts grant is providing a new sound system. This outdoor venue will offer the library expanded program capabilities and will be available to performers and programs throughout the community.
