AMHERST — Michael Murray posted the low round of the day at Amherst Golf Club, as the senior turned in a 40 to pace the Belchertown golf team past Amherst Regional on Thursday afternoon. Murray’s day included a birdie on the par-4 fifth hole.

Other scorers for the Orioles included Luke Heroux (44), William Mitus (46) and Wesley Hill (47). Belchertown is now 2-0 on the season and remains one of the top teams in western Massachusetts.

For Amherst, it was Ben Scott who shot a 42 to lead the team, including a stretch of three straight pars from holes two through four. Graham van Diessen shot a 46 for the Hurricanes while Gavin Duncan (50) and Callum Bohne/Owen Howard (55) rounded out the scoring.

Belchertown will play Frontier next, traveling to Amherst’s Cherry Hill Golf Course for a 3 p.m. match on Tuesday.

Amherst (0-2) hits the road to take on Hampshire at Blandford Country Club Wednesday at 3 p.m.

Athol 165, Hopkins 170 — Ryley Regan’s even-par round of 35 wasn’t enough as the Golden Hawks fell to the Bears at Ellinwood Country Club on Thursday.

Reagan shot the low round of the match and was followed by Aiden Keeling-Lococo (40), Carter Styspeck (47) and Chace Earle (48) for Hopkins, which dropped to 1-1 on the season.

Ethan Heuer carded a one-over, 36, to lead Athol.

Hampshire 166, Chicopee Comp 194 — The Raiders improved to 2-0 in its road victory at Chicopee Country Club on Thursday.

Brayden Fennessy and Riley Florek each shot 2-over, 38, to earn co-medalist honors for Hampshire.

Nico Johnson (44) and Cole Boissonneault (46) also played well for the Raiders.

Ludlow 156, Frontier 180 — The Redhawks made the trip to Ludlow Country Club on Thursday but were unable to get a victory against the host Lions.

Ludlow’s Noah Bahgat was the match medalist with a 34 to propel the Lions to a victory. 

Brady Wood led the way with a 42, Jacob Cornelison shot a 43, Addy Wood carded a 47 while Brady Dion and Christian Powell each shot a 48 for Frontier.
