When I worked as a reporter for the Daily Hampshire Gazette, I was fortunate to have Laurie Loisel as my editor. She was hardworking, principled and an inspiration in the newsroom. She understood that the work of a journalist is, at heart, public service, and she did her best every day to uphold that mission. While she didn’t shy away from reporting difficult news, she always started from the standpoint of knowing and loving her city. I am confident that Laurie will bring those same skills and values to representing Ward 3 on the City Council. Although I live in a different ward and can’t cast a vote for her, I believe her election will help all of Northampton by providing the kind of leadership we need in local government.
