The Hampshire Regional boys soccer team’s offense continues to roll after it cruised past Taconic, 5-0, at Dorunda Field on Tuesday night.

The Raiders have now recorded nine goals across their first two games of the season (4-2 win against Lenox on September 4) and had four goalscorers in the victory against the Thunder.

Joseph Moro grabbed two goals and an assist for Hampshire as its top point-getter in the home win. Jack Cameron, Eli Fern and William Warren also scored for the Raiders, who netted four of its five markers during the second half of play.

Hampshire goalie Maxwell Johnson made one save to post the shutout.

The Raiders return to the pitch on Friday for a meeting with Easthampton.

Kickoff at Nonotuck Park is scheduled for 4 p.m.

Westfield 1, South Hadley 0 — The Tigers are still searching for their first win of the 2025 season after a shutout loss to the Bombers.

South Hadley goalie Noah Carillon secured seven saves in the defeat.

Girls soccer

Smith Academy 2, Franklin Tech 2 – Anna Scagel scored both goals for the Falcons, including a beautiful free kick from distance in the first half of a 2-2 draw on the road in Turners Falls Tuesday night.

Vivian Higuera had a big night in goal for Smith Academy, racking up the saves in a busy effort.

Gateway 4, Hampden Charter 0 — The Gators got a pair of goals from Addison Green and Jayliana Rivera chipped in two assists in their third straight win.

Ella DeGregorio and Kathryn Harding combined for Gateway’s other two goals.

Evelyn Sadler and Teagan Campagna each produced one save in goal for the Gators.

Granby 1, Southwick 1 — Granby received its lone goal from Brenna Moreno in its first draw of the season.

Granby (2-0-1) goalie Meredith Bartosz obtained 12 saves in the tie.

Smith Voc 1, Central 1 — Isabella Letourneau (goal) and Savannah Fredette (assist) linked up for the Vikings’ single strike in the draw.

Smith Voc (2-0-1) keeper Julianis Suarez finished with three saves.

Greenfield 3, Holyoke 2 — A penalty-kick conversion from the Green Wave’s Elderina Cecunjanin proved to be the difference in the Purple Knights’ third consecutive loss.

Cecunjanin’s deciding goal came during the second half and counted as No. 10’s second tally of the match.

Kyra Lippman led Holyoke with a goal and assist while Leilany Figueroa (goal) and Emma Authier (assist) picked up points for the Purple Knights.

Holyoke out-shot Greenfield, 19-8, but Green Wave goalie Val Bzomowski was stellar, earning eight saves. Purple Knights keeper Jennaya Torres (five saves) played well too.

Field hockey

Smith Academy 3, Southwick 1 — Two goals from Ashlyn Moynihan and another from Shae Moulton gave the Falcons win No. 3 on the season.

Moulton’s marker reached the back of the net with three minutes left in regulation, giving Smith Academy some all-important insurance. Bella Gavron also chipped in two assists for the victors.

Falcons goalkeeper Chloe Avery turned aside seven Rams shots in Smith Academy’s home win.

“I am so proud of this team for their fight and grit today,” Falcons head coach Karlie Guimond said. “We hustled on both sides of the ball; executing our set plays. A huge difference maker in this game was freshman defender, Maggie Moynihan.”

Belchertown 5, Northampton 0 — The Orioles moved to 3-0 overall after shutting out the Blue Devils.

Kina and Kian Roy each registered a pair of points (goal, assist), plus Edith Audette picked up two assists to power the Belchertown offense. Lila Roy, Addi DiBona and Rachel Baltazar netted the other goals for the Orioles.

Northampton goalie Charlotte Johnson-Mersack was pelted all game long, concluding the match with 34 saves.

Hampshire 2, Turners Falls 1 — Lily Connor contributed both of the Raiders’ goals in their road victory.

Grace Layman made one save in goal for Hampshire (2-1). Thunder goalie Connor Glennon garnered eight saves.

Golf

Hopkins 177, Westfield Vocational 181 — Ryley Regan’s even-par round of 37 helped the Golden Hawks secure the win at Shaker Farms Country Club.

Aiden Keeling-Lococo (44), Chace Earle (48) and Jessica Waskiewicz (48) were Hopkins’ point-scorers.

The Golden Hawks bumped up to 3-3 with the win.

Smith Voc 179, Mohawk Trail 194 — Pat Dabrowski shot a 42 to push the Vikings past the Warriors at Greenfield Country Club.

Other scorers for Smith Voc included Conor Braunschweig (45), Jack Larochelle and R.J. Kaczenski (46 for each).

Mohawk’s Conner Bergeron picked up medalist honors despite the defeat, shooting a match-low of 40.

Easthampton 183, Central 250 — All four Eagles scorers broke 50 in their victory at Wyckoff Country Club.

Amelia Gruber earned medalist honors with an eight-over 42, then was followed by Evan Kalin (44), Angelo Torchia (48) and Jacob Murrett (49).

West Springfield 158, Belchertown 179 — The Orioles fell to 4-2 in the loss at Springfield Country Club.

William Mitus shot a 38 to pace Belchertown.

Girls volleyball

Smith Voc 3, Southwick 2 — The Vikings came out on top in a thrilling Eastern Division match.

Smith Voc took the first set, then dropped the next two, but clawed back with a dominant fourth set victory, before taking the fifth set handily. Set scores were 26-24, 24-26, 23-25, 25-13, and 15-7. 

Roma Bentrewicz was sharp, concluding the match with two aces, 17 assists, 15 digs and two kills. Heidymar Diaz-Lopez (three aces, five assists, 13 digs and eight kills), Irelyn Marcoux (seven aces, assist, 12 digs and five kills) and Hecmarie Diaz-Lopez (two assists, 30 digs) stepped up for the Vikings, who remain undefeated at 3-0 .

Cross country

Amherst 15, Ludlow 50 (G) — The Hurricanes had the first five runners cross the finish line in its dual-meet victory.

Amherst’s Nina Holden won the race in 22:59 before teammates Lilly Pope (23:12), Ella Jamate (23:20), Genevieve Dole (23:24) and Quynh Ly (23:24) came in.

Amherst 19, Ludlow 42 (B) — Calvin Miller came in first place in the boys race to lead the ‘Canes to the win. Miller crossed the finish line in 17:12.

Lions’ Tyler Tatro was second, then four consecutive Amherst runners finished in Otis Fairey (18:14), Peter Nedeau (18:14), Nico Lisle (18:14) and Sam Woodruff (18:30).

Hoosac Valley 2, Gateway 0 — Zach Hess made nine saves in a strong effort in the box for the Gators, which fell in a shutout loss to the Hurricanes on Monday evening.

The game was tied at halftime before Hoosac Valley scored twice to pull away from Gateway.

Maeve O’Neil (21:42) breezed through the course on Monday to finish an even two minutes ahead of the next runner, helping the Blue Devils to a trio of wins on the day.

Charlotte Shimpach (23:42), Zea Meerbergen (23:57), Mia Levy (24:12) and Katherine Munson (24:49) rounded out Northampton’s top five finishers in an impressive team performance.

Golf

Franklin Tech 160, Hopkins 165 — The Golden Hawks’ two-match win streak was snapped after its loss to the Eagles at Westover Golf Course.

Two-over rounds of 38 from both Aiden Keeling-Lococo and Ryley Regan weren’t enough for Hopkins as Franklin Tech had three golfers break 40, including medalist Jack Day with a one-under 35.

Chace Earle (42) and Laney Crutch (47) also played well for the Golden Hawks.
