Northampton is full of citizens who are passionate about the treatment of vulnerable people, as well as the civil rights of people around the world. I find it perplexing, then, that many of my neighbors do not extend this sense of righteous indignation toward the treatment of students here in our city. Our public schools are in constant crisis, badly in need of increased staffing to meet the legal requirements of our students, as well as to simply educate them. Teachers, parents, and students have testified to this endlessly, identifying the daily struggles and sometimes emergencies. We need a mayor, a City Council, and a School Committee that will prioritize our children and our future over an ever-growing rainy day fund. Please join me in voting for Jillian Duclos for mayor, Meg Robbins and Deb Henson for councilors at large, and Tiffany Jewel and Emily Serafy Cox for School Committee at large, as well as your local representatives endorsed by the Support Our Schools PAC.
