GEORGE J. RUSSELL JR
LEEDS, MA – George J. Russell Jr., 85, of Northampton, Massachusetts,
passed away on the morning of Saturday September 20th. Born on July 5,
1940, in Northampton to George Russell Sr. and Lena Coleman, he was a
lifelong resident of the community.
He dedicated his career to public service, joining the Northampton
Police Department where he rose to the rank of Sergeant before
retiring in 1982. Following his retirement, he worked in the parts
department for several local auto dealerships, where he was known for
his organization and friendly demeanor.
A devoted member of the Northampton Elks Lodge, George was active for
many years, including serving proudly on several committees including
a term as Exalted Ruler.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Kathleen; daughters
Lynn Russell Ashihara (spouse Greg) and Karin Kellogg (spouse Sean);
granddaughters Sarah Kellogg(fiancee Zachary Brittain) and Emma
Kellogg; and siblings Margaret Bielunis and Kenneth Russell. He will
be remembered with love by his family, friends and fondly by countless
members of the community who knew him casually.

Services will be held at Czelusniak Funeral Home Thursday September
25, 2025 with a Calling Hour from 9:30 am to 10:30 am followed by an
IN HOUSE SERVICE at 10:30 am. Burial at St Mary’s Cemetery will
follow.
