Watching Donald Trump’s latest escalator picture at the United Nations is reminiscent of 10 years ago when he announced his candidacy for president riding down on his golden escalator in Trump Tower with great fanfare. This time he wasn’t smiling and waving as the elevator stalled, sending him into one of his insulting and threatening fits of anger. In the face of an inflationary economy, and a multitude of broken promises and flagging worldwide respect this is the perfect symbol of a stalled presidency.

No smiles and waves, from him, as he was forced to climb the steps denying him a smooth ride to the top. His address to the assembled delegates was a litany of boasts and complaints with no rousing clapping or visible signs of agreement or appreciation of his rambling speech.

If the ride down the escalator in 2025 was the commencement of his meteoric rise to power the ride up may come to be the symbol of the end of his reign.
