EASTHAMPTON — After a multi-agency car chase Tuesday afternoon that started in Holyoke and went through Southampton before ending in Easthampton, Holyoke Police arrested Holyoke resident Kirk Boulier, 35, of Holyoke, in connection with a domestic assault and kidnapping.

At approximately 12:50 p.m., Holyoke Police Officer Edward Guerrero responded to the area of 2291 Northampton St. in Holyoke for a report of a domestic disturbance with a male allegedly assaulting a female inside a car.

As Guerrero arrived, he observed a male later identified as Boulier driving a suspect vehicle, and a female passenger who appeared to be unconscious, Holyoke Police said in a statement.

The officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop, but the driver refused to stop, sped away recklessly and running red lights in a vehicle he stole from Connecticut, police said. Boulier then drove on Route 202 and Route 10 into Southampton and later Easthampton.

Boulier was pursued by officers from multiple law enforcement agencies, got caught in traffic and parked the car near 373 Main St., close to Boulanger’s Plumbing and Heating in Easthampton.

An employee from Boulanger’s reported seeing the incident, with the vehicle stopping in the grass field next to 373 Main St. “I was talking on my phone … I heard a siren, looked out my window and then I saw a dude bolting away,” said the employee who declined to give his name.

Boulier then ran away as a foot pursuit began, with the employee saying he saw a man being chased by police at about 1 p.m. After that, the employee said there was a flood of more than 15 police vehicles including Holyoke, Easthampton, Southampton and State Police.

Boulier was taken into custody near 369 Main St. and was transported to the Holyoke Police Department to be booked, police said.

Police said the adult female victim, who knew the suspect, was transported to a local hospital to be evaluated for possible injuries.

Boulier is facing numerous charges, including resisting arrest; assault and battery, family/household member; failure to stop for police; reckless operation of a motor vehicle; receiving a stolen motor vehicle; number plate violation to conceal ID; operating a motor vehicle with a suspended/revoked license; kidnapping; disorderly conduct; assault with a dangerous weapon; and unregistered motor vehicle.
