Hats off to anyone who wants to run for Northampton School Committee, or any city office, in today’s hyper-polarized political climate! School Committee meetings have become notorious for their length, their vitriolic discourse, and their exasperating outcomes. Divisive misinformation about the city budget, funding streams, and fiscal constraints run rampant.
Enter into the fray, Robbie Saner Sullivan. Her middle name says it all! We’ve known Robbie for almost 30 years. Along with our two children, all three of her kids attended Northampton public schools: Jackson Street, JFK, and NHS. They are now doing wonderful work in the world, in part due to their fabulous educational experiences.
Robbie is running for School Committee at-large because she wants to give back to the community in a way that plays to her strengths. She has lived in Northampton all her life and knows this community and so many of the players personally. She is kind, respectful and compassionate. She examines issues from all points of view. She wants phones out of the classroom so that thinking and learning can thrive. She is smart, generous, hard-working and rational. She will make sound financial decisions based on what is best for our children and the city. She will work hard to find a new superintendent who will serve all of our children’s needs.
We want someone Sane(r) on the School Committee, and her name is Robbie Saner Sullivan! Please join us in voting for her on Nov. 4.
