Northampton, MA – It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved sister Patricia (Garbiel) Mason on September 20, 2025, at the age of 73. She was born on October 23, 1951, at the former Farren Memorial Hospital in Montague to the late Stanley and Frances (Bordeaux) Garbiel.
Pat was a shining light and gentle soul to our family and to all who knew her. She faced life challenges and approached life with a smile and a caring hello, as well as providing comfort to those in need.
She was a proud graduate of Turners Falls High School in Montague. Pat worked for many years at the former Mohawk Plastics in Bernardston. Eventually pursuing a career as a CNA. This profession was her niche, taking care of people, making them smile, giving them comfort and enjoying daily interactions. All this gave her immense joy as well as the pets she cherished and cared for during her lifetime.
Pat is survived by her sisters, Evelyn Mock, Beverly McCormick, Terri Flanders, Debra Greenough and her husband Timothy, her loving, caring niece, Colleen Ford, her brothers, Rick Wheeler, and Stanley Garbiel and his wife Pat, several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her stepmother Arlene (Wheeler) Garbiel, brothers Michael Garbiel, Bruce Wheeler, James Garbiel, and her beloved sister Linda Garrity.
A private burial will take place at St. Ann’s Cemetery in Montague at the convenience of the family. DROZDAL FUNERAL HOME OF NORTHAMPTON has been entrusted with her services.
We would like to express our sincere gratitude for the support and comfort that was given to Pat at Cooley Dickinson Hospital Critical Care Unit and Care One in Northampton.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to charity of one’s choice.
