The 2017 Amherst Ultimate Invitational Tournament will be held Saturday and Sunday in Amherst. In itโ€™s 26thย year, itโ€™s the longest running high school ultimate tournament in the country.

The Amherst Regional High School Gx Ultimate Program is hosting a clinic on Nov. 9 at the Oxbow Marina.

The ‘Fall Valley Rally’ will be open to middle and high school students of all skill levels interested in learning how to play Ultimate. The clinic is free and first-time players will receive a free disc.

Interested athletes are asked to complete a registration form prior to attending. Contact dan@valleyultimate.org for questions.

The clinic will run from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Iconic Women Sportswriters to speak in Longmeadow

Melissa Ludtke sued Major League Baseball in 1978 and secured the right to enter locker rooms for all women sportswriters. Her 1977 and 1978 press passes are in the Baseball Hall of Fame.ย ย Melissa will speak about her book, Locker Room Talk: A Womanโ€™s Struggle to Get Inside.

Jane McManus is a longtime ESPN reporter and panelist, a columnist for the Daily News and an educator. She has appeared on Sportscenter, Outside the Lines, and the Sports Reporters. Jane will talk about her book, The Fast Track: Inside the Surging Business of Womenโ€™s Sports.

The event takes place on Saturday, Oct. 25 at the Richard Salter Storrs Library in Longmeadow at 10 a.m. The public is welcome. Parking and admission are free. More information is available atย springfieldsabr.comย andย longmeadowlibrary.org
